Storm Tide
Storm Tide is the book I am working on now. It is a prequel to
On A
Rising Tide. It takes place in 1863 & 1864 Charleston, South Carolina,
and follows the adventures of Captain Wade McKay and his
blockade-running crew.
McKay befriends Elizabeth Corbett who is trying to purchase quinine for
her husband who is sick with malaria. Due to the Federal blockade
medicine is very difficult to obtain in the South. McKay buys some
quinine for her on the illegal Black Market. Although neither of them
wanted this to happen, McKay and Elizabeth fall in love with each other.
When her husband recovers and discovers how they feel about each other,
he seeks revenge on McKay.
One of McKay’s crew members volunteers for duty aboard the CSS Hunley
submarine. He trains with the men on the sub to attack the Federal Fleet
and eventually helps to sink the USS Housatonic.
A Union spy is also aboard the Hunley. He tries to destroy the submarine
before it can sink any of the Federal Fleet.
